Vehicle Inventory Display
The vehicle inventory display is what a renter looks at before they commit. It shows your fleet the way a renter thinks about it — by class, by location, and by whether they can actually have it on the dates they want. Get this wrong and you either show cars you cannot deliver, creating a counter argument, or you hide availability and lose the booking. The display is wired to live availability so neither happens.
Availability that’s actually live
The display reads availability from your reservation system in real time. A vehicle that is already out, reserved, or down for service does not show as bookable for those dates. When a renter sets pickup and return dates, the classes that appear are the ones you can genuinely deliver. There is no “looked available online, wasn’t available at the counter” — the most reliable way to start a rental on the wrong foot.
By location, for multi-lot operators
If you run more than one pickup point — a downtown lot and an airport counter, say — the display filters by location. A renter choosing airport pickup sees the cars available at the airport, not the ones sitting downtown. Each listing is tagged to its location so the booking that follows lands at the right lot and the reminders point the renter to the correct address.
What the renter sees, step by step
- The renter enters pickup and return dates and a location.
- The display refreshes to show only the classes available for that window and lot.
- Each class shows seats, cargo, transmission, and the rate for those exact dates.
- The renter picks a class and moves straight into the booking funnel — no gap, no callback.
Tied into everything downstream
Because the display reads the same availability the booking funnel writes to, the system stays consistent. The moment a booking confirms and a car comes off the board, the display reflects it — so two renters cannot both book the last 8-seat van for the same weekend. When a vehicle returns, it reappears as available. A waitlist tag can capture renters who wanted a class that was fully out, so when one returns the snapshot can text the next renter in line.
Why live beats a static brochure
A static “our fleet” page is a brochure — it tells a renter what you own, not what they can have. The renter still has to call to find out if it is free, and that call is where bookings die on a busy Friday. The live inventory display answers the only question that matters — “can I have this car, these dates, this lot?” — and routes a yes straight into a booking.
